Homemade Yellow Rice Seasoning Mix

This homemade Yellow Rice Seasoning Mix is an easy pantry staple that turns plain white rice into a flavorful, savory side dish in minutes. Made with simple pantry spices and chicken bouillon, it’s perfect for meal prep, casseroles, chicken dinners, and budget-friendly homemade meals.

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup chicken bouillon powder
  • 1/3 cup turmeric
  • 3 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 3/4 teaspoon oregano

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Whisk thoroughly until fully combined and evenly blended.
  2. Pour into a standard pint-size mason jar or airtight container.
  3. Store in a cool, dry place.
  4. To Make Yellow Rice
  5. 1 cup uncooked white rice
  6. 2 cups water
  7. 2 to 3 tablespoons yellow rice seasoning mix
  8. Optional: 1 tablespoon butter or oil
  9. Add the rice, water, seasoning mix, and optional butter or oil to a saucepan.
  10. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  11. Stir once, cover, and reduce heat to low.
  12. Simmer for 15–18 minutes or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
  13. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes.
  14. Fluff with a fork before serving.
